Diversity
About the initiative
We democratize opportunities to transform the lives of people in Latin America
We are convinced that diversity of perspectives is the seed of innovation. We strive to build diverse teams that complement each other through different profiles. We believe that this not only enriches us, but also allows us to develop innovative products that anticipate the needs and expectations of millions of people. The best way to understand and really know our users is to mirror society: to have within our company the same diversity that exists outside.
To achieve this, we have developed internal and external initiatives focused on building increasingly plural teams. Our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion strategy is based on three complementary and mutually reinforcing pillars: building diverse teams, developing inclusive environments, and driving a more inclusive society.
Building diverse teams
To include all types of perspectives and accelerate the organization's change in mindset, we focus on five priorities: ethnicities, women, LGBTQIA+, people with disabilities, and generations.
Every job opening is an opportunity to add unique people who reflect the diversity of our users. To this end, we present exclusive lists of women for executive positions and make intentionally affirmative hires for Black people in leadership positions. We also created a recruitment program for professionals over 40 years old in the shipping area, and launched a new program for hiring people with disabilities in the IT area.
Developing inclusive environments
We aim to eliminate prejudice, making our leadership team multipliers in creating a diverse and inclusive culture. To engage the entire organization in the collective development and implementation of solutions that accelerate our diversity and inclusion agenda, we maintain affinity groups, which brought together over 3,000 people in 2023. Organized according to priorities, these groups are formed by people from all business units, countries and hierarchical positions, and work voluntarily in the design and execution of proposals.
Driving a more inclusive society
We create products and services that include and enable access to increasing numbers of people and minority groups in the countries where we operate. We multiply impact through education and financial inclusion programs, which we carry out in partnership with civil society organizations, focusing on gender and diversity. Also, check out our inclusion initiatives through entrepreneurship.
Additionally, through the Redes al Futuro (Networks for the Future) program, we are fostering social inclusion and employment opportunities for individuals in the communities in which our distribution centers are located. We invest in enhancing their technical, socio-emotional, and logistical skills to help them pursue and access formal employment. In 2023, the program specifically targeted the inclusion of individuals with disabilities and/or over the age of 40 years, in collaboration with the Aliança Institute.
