Sustainable Mobility

To face the challenge of expanding operations while simultaneously reducing the environmental impact caused by its activities, Mercado Livre, the leader in electronic commerce in Latin America, is betting on electromobility. Now, in addition to the 548 electric vehicles already in use in the region, another 150 vans have been added to the Mexican fleet. As a result, Mexico now has 165 units running on the energy grid, operating in 9 Mexican cities. It is the largest sustainable e-commerce fleet in the country. The new electric vans do not emit any type of polluting exhausts when in operation.

“This increase in our fleet of EVs is a big step forward, but there is no let up in our ambitions to promote the adoption of innovative solutions throughout the value chain”.

Omar Ramírez, director of logistics and transport at Mercado Livre Mexico

Mexico also advances in the use of renewable energy

In addition to the new vans, Mercado Livre's operation in Mexico also started to supply its main storage and distribution centers with off-site renewable energy. This development began in the largest center in the country, which occupies an area of 130,000 m2, in Tepotzotlán, in the state of México.

The next center to go through the conversion process is located in Monterrey, the capital of the state of Nuevo León. The goal is to end 2022 with three centers operating entirely on renewable energy.
